“So you shall keep my commandments and do them: I am the Lord. And you shall not profane My holy name, that I may be sanctified among the people of Israel. I am the Lord who sanctifies you, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be Your God; I am the Lord. (Leviticus 22:31-33)

I have been reading in the book of Leviticus. The book of Leviticus is not easy reading, but it is part of the whole counsel of God. We need to read it in order to get the whole counsel of God’s Word.   In the above verse, God is exhorting His chosen people, the Israelites, to keep His commandments, uphold His name and to be sanctified (set apart to show yourself to be a follower.) He also reminded them that He was the One who rescued them from their bondage (oppression) in Egypt and He was to be their God. As I thought about this, I couldn’t help but respond to the Lord and His redeeming grace in my life: “Lord, thank you for rescuing me from both the penalty and the bondage of sin. Thank you for rescuing me from an empty way of life. I love and worship You, my Savior! You are my God! You are my Lord!
