“Training lay people to be God’s hand extended, touching people in need.”

The Evangelical Bible Church is enrolled in the Stephen Series system of lay caring ministry, developed by Stephen Ministries, a nonprofit religious and educational organization based in St. Louis, Missouri. We are in the process of developing a lasting program of caring ministry through the Stephen Series system of training and organization.

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry eqips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

A Stephen Minister is...

  • A child of God who walks beside a person who is hurting
  • A member with gifts for caregiving who was carefully selected to serve in this role
  • A lay person who has received fifty hours of training in providing emotional and sprirtual care
  • A caring Christian friend who listens, cares, prays, supports and encourages
  • Someone who will "be there," faithfully for about an hour each week, for as long as there is a need
